    Description

    An extraordinary pair of Chinese hardwood chairs crafted in the Ming Dynasty style late 19th century. Each with inset rectangular panel hard cane seats supporting a wide slightly bowed rectangular back splat flanked by two upright circular posts supporting a horizontal, circular-section top rail the legs with shaped profile surrounds and joined by peripheral stretchers, extremely attractive with great back support, original rich rosewood lacquer with beautiful patina throughout. Perfect accent chairs of very fine form and profile, an exceptional pair beautiful patina throughout, will make a charming addition to any home with timeless sophisticate style.
    Provenance: From the estate of Yolande Margaret Betbeze Fox, crowned Miss America in 1951. Part of her collection in her historic Thomas Beall built house in Georgetown, Washington, D.C., a previous residence of Jacqueline Kennedy after the assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963.
