    Description

    This World War I
    hand-carved, double-edged dagger
is "trench art," made from a bombshell fragment.  The
blade measures 2 ½” in length and comes to a sharp point. The grip measures 2 ¼” and has been left very rough, except where the date “1914” and “NAMUR” have been marked. The reference is to the German army's siege of Namur
    in southern Belgium.
There are scratch marks and some rust(?) on the blade. No effort was made to polish or clean the piece.
